Wouldn't the surfer be disappointed though? If they see one of these images that was actually well done and then click to the site and see that the image quality on the tour and/or inside the members' area doesn't match the quality that they clicked, wouldn't that just cause the surfer to turn away or chargeback if they did actually join?
It's one thing if you use images like that that promotes an actual site where all the images were magazine polished, but if not, why spend the time to make these images magazine quality? (providing the person knows how to use the tools properly)
I see this a lot on some of the thumb sites. When done properly, the thumb looks better than where they are sending the surfer to. Now if the sites do this just increase clicks to feed their trades, that is one thing, but what effect does it have on the conversion ratio from thumb to join page?
