No its quite possible to live in your country with 300 euros per month. You pay rent in a shitty place - 100 euros, you pay electricity and water - 50 euros, then 150 euros you spend on potatoes, bread and milk.
Go to Belgrade dude.. seriousely.. I've been in Zagreb a few times also and I can tell you Zagreb prices for food, caffe and shit like that are approx 30-40% lower then Belgrade prices. Its a financial anomaly ..
About porn industry and serbian porn movies. What you saw was amateur crap produced by mostly 1 particular individual who likes to get the 50 euro per day models and it doesnt bother him that they are missing a set of teeth or are overweight by .. approx 50 kilos. There are a couple of new production lines starting there who are very different from the ordinary crap, however most of the good stuff produced in that country never hits the market as it goes international - its a small country and the good models are protected this way.. at least in part lol.
Regarding your models - Croatian, I shoot there a while ago also, actually quite a couple of times.. did some lesbo scenes on some islands, shoot one of your playboy models doing hardcore - lol, and shot a couple of nice D-racks solo. The problem with all these countries is that they are in fact more expensive than Hungary or Czech Republic. There are no proffesional porn models there are only amateurs. Amateurs cost the same in other countries, however in Czech you can scout 10-15 of them per week.. in Croatia or Serbia you can get max 1-2.
