I would love to learn modelling (and shade/texturing) myself - even if it obviously requires a huge investment of time to make a full scene that way compared to just slapping together premade props.
I'm just getting started with the Cinema 4D demo (looks like I might end up buying that package within long) and I've messed around with Hexagon some months back.
Modelling is definately something that requires both skills and a whole lot of practice, and even on the off chance that I might some day actually be able to build assorted items and scenes, actual character modelling seems to be a whole other level again. Good thing there's always the option of mixing Poser characters with your own less complex creations
