I'm not a fan of using flash, so I often try to get by using just natural or ambient light. In social settings i think the flash disturbs people too much, and when I'm shooting content I need to capture things faster than my flash can work (I guess Tuula might have this issue with the squirting as well). I feel I can get by quite well indoors using a large aperture (f/1.8 or f/2.8) and a steady hand. The aperture has a quite pleasing effect for the type of content I'm shooting anyway -- though Tuula might have trouble keeping the whole squirt in focus...

I don't have any fancy lighting equipment yet (except for a 5-in-1 reflector I got from my brother for Xmas), so I have to get by with ordinary household equipment when shooting content (lots of powerful lamps). I'm building some home-made studio lights (based on fluorescent bulbs) until I'm ready to invest in better equipment. The quality probably suffers a bit, but I still think the results are OK; the most annoying thing is probably the extra time and work that goes into trying to get enough light with poor equipment.

Oh, and you might check out this stuff:
