I like to put nofollow attribute to sponsor links because of 2 reasons:
1. In this way I pass more PR juice to my hard link trades which are most usually my other sites
2. If we all give hard links without nofollow to our sponsors they will be better ranked in SERPS then us, which we don't want.
There are only 2 reasons why you would consider not putting nofollow tag to sour sponsor links but I don't see much benefit there:
1. You link to relevant sponsor so your site would appear more relevant to SEs. Since you can't put unlimited number of outgoing links on your site I think instead of that sponsor's link you can trade link with some relevant blog and get even more love from SEs.
2. Sometimes your link to sponsor with your affiliate code can be indexed and well ranked by SEs so you can get a lot of sign-ups from that, but I think it happens rarely and accidentally and probably don't last long.
