Well orginialy the idea of the internet was very socialist, heck probably even anarchist in nature. People were free to express ideas on an equal footing with others, and it was real communication, a two way exchange, interactive.
It didn't take very long though for the capitalists to figure out that this was the most powerful marketing medium in history and so today we have a one way form of programming. A glorified TV that you can spend your money on without even leaving the house.
Really when was the last time anything was interactive on the internet? Isn't everything just a ruse to get you to look at ads, and filter you to buy something eventually.
As for the Hitler and radios comment, it's long been established that radios, then TVs and now computers/internet are great for influencing the masses. We must have learned that from all the SS officers we took in to start the CIA after WW2.
