It happens, and here is the benefit to the program:
Programs realize webmasters, especially large webmasters new to a program, test traffic in small amounts. By seeding traffic with sales early, they hope to encourage the webmaster to send a lot more traffic than they would have if they knew the real conversions.
The additional benefit is that they then brag about having the best conversions.
This idea may seem good at first to a webmaster, who say's, "who cares, as long as I get extra money", but it forces you to leave a program that was equal or better to only find out later you are being robbed, as the programs usually only do this for so long as it becomes impractical. Meanwhile, your good traffic, isn't converting real sales, which means, you will NOT get any repeat sales. This is huge in the cam industry.
Take it a step further, if a company is dishonest about the sales, conversions and seeding, what else will they do?
Just an FYI, Moocash is proud not to use false sales. We can't, as anyone who has seen our admin knows you see the surfer, where they came from, and what they do daily.
Good thread _LB_ . I try not to rail on these issues as no one wins by criticizing other programs for their own gain. It only creates mistrust, but pretty soon I get to make some announcements and then I get to really tee off
