A domain that's never been active doesn't gain any value over time. Other than from the sheer uniqueness and availability POV.
Aged domains that have always resolved to a website are a different story. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. ie: I've seen tons of quality mainstream domains become worthless because they, at one time or another, resolved to adult sites.
