Hmmm, definition of free software... Well, I suppose in one respect it does, but then the people who develop 'Open Source' et al, they give up their time from where they could be making money working on something else.
So in one respect, I would say at point of use it is free, but at the other side of the coin, you have to factor in the time in what the developers could be earning at that specific point!
Also, some of the 'free' software that has a paid for big brother, is that actually free or are the people who pay for the full version subsidising it?

Sorry for sounding a little bit sarcastic, though, I was just having a bit of a bad moment! There was someone who posted a little above, who got to me, when they were saying that 'Dreamweaver was basically a free FTP...' and I thought "Oh, shit, here we go again!"
