I remember when this happened (I read the NY Post every day). The media will give out facts that are generally tainted one way or another. The police claimed the victim went for a gun. The victim claimed they were innocently walking around. The truth is in there somewhere.
I'm sure Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will be all over this.
I tell you this, though. I would never, ever want to be in the position of being a police officer in a bad neighborhood at 4 am when several drunk men approached me. If one began to reach into his coat, I would not want to have to make the decision to shoot first to protect me or my fellow officers.
