I think we had a race war a few years ago. Rodney King, anyone? Black people destroying black businesses in anger. Black people hurting white people.
And who can forget the news coverage of the rioting in tiny towns in Iowa, Nebraska and Arkansas.
There are still some areas of the USA where there is racial inequality, like blacks can't go to proms with whites (segregation), etc.
