It makes it easier to switch sponsors if you are careful about the use of copyright content.

I've been doing it in the hope that it will help to reduce affiliate link theft where trojans are installed on surfers computers - You need to be careful with the redirect though. I changed the method, and doubled the click throughs. I posted about it in my chinese traffic experiment thread, but I didn't get one reply. That surprised me, as I thought most people wanted to cut down on traffic loss.
