What I noticed in the research there was that they mentioned how people type the domain into a search engine and NOT the address bar. Now that was something my ex girlfriend always did and it freaked me out, I kept complaining that she might click on a phishing site one day instead of her real bank website but no, she carried on. That's how she did all her entries but was mainly the ones she already knew.
But if they mention that in the research there then obviously more than just her do it, which is incredibly eye opening and stupid but hey.
