I've just had a look, and it was very sluggish for me (not the connection from my phone, as I was routing it through the WiFi, and the laptop was also returning a similar sluggishness).
As a user of the mobile sites, I want them (and expect them) to load on a par with, or quicker than, the computer browser counterparts. And that is the same for most users, who would have that little thing clicking in the head 'You are paying x per minute you are on-line!'
Also, the pink, for me doesn't really work that well, I find it quite overpowering on a mobile screen, so I would be put off by that.
What about throwing in the occasional low quality graphic to keep some attention going? For me, the mobile version of the BBC website is a good starting point
