Should google keyword tool be used in selecting keywords for SE's?

The keyword tools gives you information on ads not search engine results.

So you have wordtracker showing a keyword havin 3000 hits but in google ads keywords tool you get this value reflected but in June - 'no data'

seobook and wordtracker show high volume for a keywords but google does not reflect that in last months traffic.

I believe that google keyowrds tool is not good, since it is based on adwords traffic.

Let me know your thoughts.
