What's a gay hobo?
I know what gay means, and I know what a hobo is. I can work out the obvious meaning, but it seems that the expression has a more explicit interpretation these days.

well I picked up the singular, but it looks as if the plural is available as well. I couldn't find anything about either in wayback.

Totally a wild guess but...

I never heard the term but historically hobos communicated with each other by leaving marks or rags on "hobo" friendly houses that gave food or shelter. Also railroad yards that didn't get you beat to death if the railroad guards caught you?
So is it possible it refers to certain gay friendly locations, methods of dressing, etc identified by maybe the old school bandana color thing or certain terms in signs?

I did. That's one of the things about picking up names, it gets you into all sorts of strange areas. I checked Google, and it looked as if it was being used colloquially, but I couldn't find a definition anywhere. I guess dumbass is the most likely.
