crappy exchange rate

1.00 USD = 1.11 CAD --- and that's actually an improvement over the past week or so, how sad is that. What is happening to our economy, nothing good that's for sure. I miss the days when you could get 1.50 CAD or so for 1.00 USD *sigh*

The other day, I got 1000 RON for 425 USD...
The USD lost 6.25% in 2 months...

Yep, same here. The exchange has gone up a bit, but still is very low. When I came back to Sweden I got 8.50kr for each us dollar. Today I only get 6.80kr

do you guys really think this was by accident. i believe this has been

done for a reason. to make exports cheaper and non chinese imports

more expensive. and since china has its currency pegged to the dollar

their exports are cheaper as well

I don't think China is pegged to the dollar. They just have a policy of lending their trade surpluses, and this counters the natural balance of trade. It keeps the citizens poor, but it strengthens the country, and it gives them enormous economic power. The US is the economic slave of Asia, and it will be interesting to see how they cope with that now that Asia is turning from the dollar.

1 USD = 1.08945 CAD is the rate today according to xe.com - I have never seen the US dollar be so weak, I really hope it bounces back soon!
