anti virus

these anti virus are really fucking me off.

i had an update version of mcafee and i thought i was doing well. but a week ago my computer got virus and it did nothing not even recognise so i had to reinstall windows xp after formating that partition.

then i switched to norton and put on scan computer, and i found a virus in almost every non-pic-video file in my computer, at that time i thought that it was rubbish and is just making these viruses up. and i was right today it again got same virus as of before and norton didn't even recognised it. due to my last experience i know to leave virus files alone ( i don't know the main file but i know which files are created by it and even if i delete them using linux on next xp login they are remade). i switched on the net a found out that these files have some kind of virus and trojan.

i had a bad experince with panda in the past, because i was not any good so i uninstalled it and it blocked my internet option and i never from that window was able to use net and i had to reinstall xp after deleting old one.

so what anti-virus does really work, can any one tell me because i still have virus at this moment in my pc and i don't want to install xp and all those applications again.

Because you use shitty AV LOL
Try NOD32 ( its not free but you have trial period ) or you can try with some free AV like Avast. I didnt try Avast but many many ppl say its good AV

well i have never heard of nod32. but one thing i know that norton is worlds most used antivrus and mcafee comes 2nd.

well i am going to try avast first because i am downloading that at this moment and after that some other av.

all i can remember that how i got this virus is that i copied a dvd into my pc about 2months ago but never watched it. and in last 1 motnh i have not attached any new hardware to my pc or installed some software that i never did before without passing it theough av. but about a week ago i watched some of that movie and my pc got virus and now again yesterday i watched rest of that movie and my computer got virus again. i have deleted it but i want to know

can dvd movies carry virus?

nod32 is the only good choice. back when i used windows, that's what i used with outpost as my firewall.

forget norton and mcafee...those are for soccer moms and people who get it free with their dell.

well i got nod32 from a friend (forget software license for a moment). it was version released in 2004. and it was as rubbish as norton or mcafee. it still didn't detected those viruses, which i know are viruses becuase i searched about them on net after i was attacked by them first time.

and my computer kept getting restarted as soon as i connected the net so i was also unable to download avast completly.

and i had no choice but to reinstall windows, which i did but in this process i lost my wand files. i had it backed up at 4 places in my pc but it disappeared from all of them and also opera.exe also went missing. now i using my backup from 4 months ago which was on cd.

Plus Norton and Mcarsey are shit having worked in the IT industry i can t begin to tell you the amount of pc those two have fucked up between them plus they re a rip off and often wont even take care of virus automatically !
Just cause everyone uses some something does nt mean its good just look at I.E 7

Thats good Alpha ,with mac aff i ve had to deal with to many dells in the past with this shit software on that just gets in the way just my opinion though !

Only thing i would say about AVG though is that it trys to download updates everyday and occasionly it cant for some reason but its usually fine later in the day !
Still pretty good for free though

Oh and try using firefoxy for the web you get a lot less viruses too !
Got a great plug in for mine that lets me switch between firefox and i.e its great !
