What Internet business has raised $120 million in financing in the last year, owns 725,000 Web sites, and has as its chief executive the former head of Primedia and International Data Group?

According to Kelly P. Conlin, the chief executive of NameMedia, the company's business is best seen as an online property developer.

"What we've wanted to do, quietly, is amass the largest real estate position on the Internet, which we feel we have," Conlin said.

Some of those properties, he said, are the equivalent of "oceanfront" sites, or high-value addresses like Photography.com or DailyHoroscope.com that NameMedia will populate with relevant editorial content. Those who type in any of NameMedia's other 6,000 or so photography-related Internet addresses, like photographyproducts.com, will land on Photography.com.

and how big is your empire?

I am currently some where north of 200.000 sites and add more on a daily basis. Though not all are blogs. And I develop new projects daily.

I do not have an empire, but I do have a cardboard box when compared to either of those

when is something counted as a site and when not. Its not hard to autogenerate tons of pages with some templates and database info....

I would count it as a site if it has its own domain. Sites with sub domains I count as 1. I am sure other people count them other wise but thats them.

You have 200k+ sites? How on earth do you manage that many? How many employees do you have?

So you have 200,000+ domains if domains with subdomains count as 1? That's probably not what you meant, or you've got a minimum $1.2 million annual domain renewal fee bill to contend with. That would be incredible. I'm lucky to manage 2 sites.

I started buying domains in 1995 and yes I am domain poor. I own them any where and every where and recently started buying them big time again. But I have a method to my madness. lol I am trying to buy up a lot of stuff also for future use and I use those in different ways now that other people wouldn't think of. I own like I said some where north of 200.000 of which 70 percent I have owned for one or more years and 30 percent are recent purchases. No I do not sell them and do not plan to. I have a lot of plans for the future. More mainstream and when I buy one I buy every variation of it to prevent any future competition from getting it. I have acquired and am continuing to get all the adult stories , vampire and ghost domains I can. And my plan is working very well. I am currently seeing huge results on these.

I'm having a hard time believing you own over 200,000 domains and I've never heard of you or run across you in the domain industry. Btw, thomasbyers.com is still unregistered. Over 200k domain renewal fees for years and you wouldn't want to register that one?

Well you can believe what you want Mate. And vain is one thing I am not. I do things way different to what any one else does and if you look around you can see me and find me every where. You just have to know what and who to look for. And its not thomasbyers though that is my real name. Hint my middle name is Edward.

Yes I am very interested in those and have big plans for them I really believe its a real untouched niche. I may do a program in that niche. I have some one researching it as far as legal issues etc and how dark we can get. If I do it I will base it out of New Orleans where there is a whole sub culture interested in Goth , Vampires etc. It has always been a big interest for me really anything Goth , Vampire , Ghosts, Voodoo , Paranormal etc. I come from Gypsy Heritage on my mothers side and since a small child I have been interested in Goth and etc.

I'm not trying to doubt you, but it seems odd to run a Network of blogs when you own a multi million dollar domain empire. You have over 1 million dollars a year in re registration alone, not to mention growth. How do you have time to run blogs when you have over 5k domains to renew a day? When do you get time to update them and keep them making money...
