I was outside with my dog when...
... I heard this noise... I thought it was a boat out on the lake but then it didn't *sound* like a boat...

I couldn't figure out what direction the noise was coming from... until I looked above me..

A HUGE FREAKIN' CLOUD OF BUGS !! It was like a Hitchcock movie!! I couldn't fuckin' believe it ... I tried to take a pic but my camera couldn't catch it... they look a little like mosquitoes but bigger and they don't seem to bite?

The noise was incredibly loud and the cloud above me was in constant motion...

I grew up in this town and I don't *ever* recall anything like that...

it was creepy... ewwwwwww....



I hope they go away...

Bugs are ok.. but when they come in large swarms - esp. the size yours sounded like, that'd be really scary! How did the dog react?

I think I know what you mean...the key is they dont bite. I just saw a special on them on the news because a similar occourance happened to me a few months ago and i hit the deck!

was it evening time. sun set or just after it. because i know for a fact that such bugs do reside in open areas around water (like lakes, canal, almost dry rivers). and they come out near dark and are harmless.

It was dusk.. In the morning they cover every surface and as you walk thru the grass they fly out and swarm but nothing like the cloud I saw last night... it was quite loud...
