Is it just me or are people this stupid

I went and bought a $1000 digital projector for a new project this was wensday, thought it would be cool.. Got it home hooked it up, it worked for 10 minutes and the bulb went poof. $485 for a friggng bulb. I took it back to the store, the girl said " warranty does not cover bulbs. I was like ok but it dont work, she said, if you had come in and said it didnt work we would replace it or give you a refund, but you came in and said the bulb blew out." I was like WTF. I didnt feel like a fight so I picked it up and left, knowing I had something up my sleeve.. This morning I take it back told a different girl, I dont know what happened, it just started smokeing and smelling real bad.. The girl gave me refund on my debit card.. Why are people this stupid...

lol, I know what you mean, just depends who you deal with in most cases. For example, sometimes when I go to the bank to cash a check in USD I get charged a $5 fee but other times I go and have a different teller and the fee will be waved.

that is funny as hell,.. people are stupid when they put on that name tag,... I am glad I work from home.

Maybe she was just doing her job and going by the book. When she said "" warranty does not cover bulbs." maybe she assume you broke it. As she mention if you said it didn't work she'd give you an full refund "thus it's manufacture default". Yea it's pretty stupid though

Employees need to cover their ass.

Give out too many customer refunds & you have too justify it to the boss.

yeah the girl was just doing her job, can't blame her for that, although I must say the whole not being able to refund deal was stupid. The store will lose business that way

IMHO this is a much larger problem and I have seen it worldwide. Basically it boils down to "I got a job to do and rules to follow and I dont really give a crap about anyones problems I just want to get to the end of my shift and go home". Now officially, this girl was just doing her job and I dont think she was stupid. You just played the system the retail outlets have set up and worked around it all. If the store and their employees really cared, they would have looked at the receipt, seen it was just purchased, and replaced the bulb for you at the counter and made sure it worked for you. But no, it is easier to refuse you any real measure of service thereby causing them a stream of paperwork as the device is now returned and I am sure will get sent back to the manufacturer etc... and people wonder why the cost of doing business is so freaking high and things cost so much?

Kinda wish you could go back in time to the days when the mom and pop shops ruled the street and you could have had the problem fixed in no time with no headaches. Oh well.. done with my nostalgic rant for the day.

I`m sure most stores do care, I think when in this case the manager was around and noticed what was going on he would have stepped in and solved the problem. If not than he sure is the stupid one.

You're better off with a refund rather than a new bulb. It could have been a faulty product that caused the bulb to blow.

lol some people are too smart and know the rules and warranties and shit . they know what isn't covered.. lol...

meanwhile - good deal .. I took my projector in about 8 mths ago for a new bulb ($750 AUD at 'cost price') and ended up getting an awesome large tv for $300 off the retail price (- $100 off the sale price.. because we had to order the bulb in and I didn't want to "miss a week of tv".. as I told the salesguy, as well as free delivery for the TV (my Festiva wouldn't fit it)..... . HAHA! all in the one day - with male salespersons.

I think that's why LB always sends me to get the tyres changed in the car.. and get a service.... etc lol chicks rock

I have found it's best to reward people like that with paperwork. LOTS AND LOTS OF IT.

I had a problem with an ipod I brought in with an on site replacement warranty. They refused to honor it. I then asked the manager if he would mind if I bought a new one and returned it when I got my new one. He got visibly upset and gritting his teeth said yes.

I then went there. I am VirtuMike, after all.

"Sir, I have a desire to purchase every ipod in the entire store. I will use each and every one of them and I will return them in 29 days scratched and half will not work. I will then purchase every single ipod you have in stock that is new and do the same thing until I get bored. And if you think you can stop me, you can take it up with AMEX."

I got a brand new ipod. I am sure I got the finger on the way out the door.
