Something for the fisherman on the board(pics)
I spent the last week at the beach, fishing was slow on the pier one day so I decided to take a ride to Moorehead City and watch the weigh at the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament!
Talk about big fish! The winning fish weighed in at 613 lbs and measured a length of 117 inches and had a girth of 66 inches!!! Unfortunately I could not be there for it's weigh in, however, these photos were taken the same day! ![]() This one didn't win anything but did get a ticket and a thousand dollar fine when they it the dock, the fish was of legal weight for the tournament but was undersize for the states length limit!! ![]() A 567 pound fish!!! ![]() And the winning Dolphin(Mahi) ![]() The really neat thing is all the fish are donated to research upon the tournaments completion so nothing goes to waste! __________________

This is going to be long, but I miss my Dad so I am going to take the time to type it..
When I was younger about 12 my Dad had a buddy that had a big fishing boat, it was a 47 footer, with twin diesels, 3 decks, you could steer from the bottom and the top deck. My Dad being a mechanic helped the guy rebuilt both engines one time. They would go fishing from time to time. The guy died of cancer, Dad was pretty bent out of shape about it, because he lost a friend and the guy was like 37. About two weeks after the funeral the guys wife comes to the house. They did the crying thing and all that jaz. She gave dad the keys and the title to the boat. The guy willed it to my dad. We would go out just about every other weekend, if the weather was ok, We would take a couple of Dads friends and would fill coolers with fish, Then when we got back to the dock, we would sell the fish out of the back of the boat. On average I think we would make close to $800 a weekend. I can remember the heading out honey hole, I think it was 180degrees west, running wide open for 45 minutes from Tarpon Springs Florida. At the time I was the youngest kid ceritfied by the coast gaurd to operate a boat, Not a lic but a certifications saying I was qualified. I can remember alot of great times, to many to post. But fish like that I have caught and faught for hours. When I see fish like that it reminds me of times dad and I had.. I think in a couple of years I may take a week off and go charter a boat, Just so I can spend some time remembering dad. __________________
