ZA Mentor urgently needed

No. I'm not kidding! I'm 43 and started getting into webmastering 2 weeks ago. So, what's the problem? I hear you say.
Well, it's very simple really. I'm bsically stupid, when it comes to websites, HTML, PHP, Java etc etc. In the last 2 weeks, I've spent 14 - 16 hr days studying as much on the above subject and many more besides, as I possibly could, but firstly my brain is struggling to take in all this new information at such a rate, since it has never had to deal with anything like it before.

Secondly, ther's just no way that anyone, especially this 43yr old, can learn in a few weeks (or even a few months) what most of you have been studying for at least a few years.

Thirdly - and there's a long story here, which we'll save for another day - I told the boss to shove his job a few months ago and now the finances are squeesing badly!! So, time is not on my side.

I need to get as many sites as possible up & running as soon as possible.

So, the logical thing to do - I would think - is to find someone with the necessary skills and do a JV with him/ her, while "learning on the job"

The question then is this: Is there a webbie from South Africa in the house??

Hi there Archieinsa and welcome to the Pond!

Now its a good idea to have somebody to guide and teach you along the way but in any case please note there is no quick way to learn this buiz! It will take time and long hours of study and work. Times have changed and its not as easy anymore!

Thx for your welcomes, advice & encouragement guys. As I said, i'm doing 16 -18 hour days, to try & learn, but of course it'll still take way too long to be of any use to me in my current situation,
I've been very lucky and found a guy in my city (not on here), who is an adult webby and i'm meeting him next week to discuss possibilities, so hold thumbs.

i would stay away from php and java at the start
stick with html and css
its the basics of all sites and you can do quite a lot with it
for the rest you can get scripts already made

and haui probably gave you the fastest way in
blogs are hot

I'd luv to know more about the blogging method also. It does sound like the easiest start. Could you suggest some Adult Blogging sites? (I only know vanilla sites so far)

Do you run them as if they were a full-on website, or how does one approach a blog as a business? Where do your income streams come from etc.

well you can start with thumblogger there are also a few more free hosted porn blog sites out there and spreading them out can't do any harm

choose your niche/what turns you on and what you can talk about for hours
choose the names with a good keyword search it will also come in handy later on
open the blog and plug away
do this with maybe 5 to 10 blogs to start all linked together
when you have around 10 posts on each submit them to all the directories you can and to all the link dumps
and start trading hardlinks with other blogs in the same niche

income can come from banners,links,potd,votd and the posts made

then when your ready open your own blog with a good domain name
on your own hosting do the same as above linking from them

then start some auto updated blogs with rss to anywhere and do the same to feed your main blog
making sure your main blog is top of the list or in a realy good spot so it gets more hits
because your main blog is the one that will make the sales

in a nutshell
free hosted auto updated not many sales
free hosted personaly updated with unique content some good sales
personaly hosted and personaly updated with unique content even better sales

i can talk bullshit and i don't blog mutch
but its what i understand with reading the pond and im sure there are some webmasters that could put this right or elaborate

What's hardlinks & link dumps? And RSS? And potd & votd..LOL..
U see what I mean? I really am a raw, raw newby. I have so much to learn, that I must be honest, some days I wonder if I'm ever gonna learn everything I need to know.

(Maybe I should've realised I was gonna struggle, when I could'nt even figure out some of the slightly more advanced tasks on Word & Exel huh?

But I really do appreciate your help so far & I will go & research each of those terms, so next time I know a little bit more.

Hardlink : pure html link to another site style http :// www. site .com (the spaces are there so it shows)
Link Dump : as the name says a place to dump your links usualy good for quick traffic and links back to your site
rss : i can never remember the real name but basicaly a site map of all or the latest updates of a blog/site

there is some realy good info in there

potd : picture of the day
votd : video of the day
both updated every day and a nice way to give fresh content for the surfer to click on
