Anti Virus
I have always used Nortons, probably because I have always had it installed on my computer(s) since 1998. On another non-adult forum I have just read that they live on reputation and consumers ignorance and that they are basically c**p.
I just wondered what everyone else uses? __________________

I use AVG and recently Avast as well, though one or the other would no doubt be enough. And to be honest I can't tell you how good they really if the shit hits the fan since they've never found a virus for the last several years
 .I don't bother having resident protection turned on either (sucks system resources, which particularly isn't the greatest idea when you're a gamer and need everything you can get) and just run a scan every few weeks. First lines of defense - a firewall and common sense, ie. don't open all those funny looking email attachments or run files from unknown sources without scanning them first, and both AVG and Avast are available for quick file/folder scans with a simple right click.__________________

Another vote for nod32...it did catch some stuff a few times when I'd be browsing. Outpost for firewall though setting it up is anything but simple and requires the tutorial on their forum.
Have no need for it anymore though... http://www.apple.com/getamac  ...well, I should say I do still actually need it for when I boot into Windows..__________________

i love norton.. I use the full internet security package...and I find it to work very well..
there are some people that say... oh well I used Norton and got a virus that Norton couldn't clean so I got AVG and it cleaned it.. and thats their argument for AVG being better.. what they don't relies is that this is the same for all anti virus programs one will be able to clear something that another wont... no antivirus program can clear 100% of viruses and there never will be one that dose.. there are also viruses that target spcific AV apps and interfere with them.. like stopping them from updating so they wont be able to clear them or fucking up the virus scan or what ever Norton, avg, nod, pccillin, Mcafee are all about on a par as far as cleaning viruses are concerned.. the only real difference is the user interface/funtions... once I was used to useing NIS I didnt like using other security packages.. I didnt like that way they were laid out or the way they updated or what every ultimately your never gonna be 100 % protected from viruses... Idealy using more then one AV app would be better...Unfortunatly its inadvisable to have multiple AV apps running one one OS install at a time as they can fuck each other up... norton dose get bitched about a lot but name one big company that dosen't.. |

I used Norton for years at work and home. Now that I don't have Corporate buying the license I have tried all kinds of proggys and right now using nod. It seems to work well and uses less resources.

I don't know about you guys but Norton sucked for me. It used to make my PC hang every now and then and I would still have trojans on my system despite having an up-to-date version of Norton.
