How do you tell if someone is stealing your traffic?
I was doing some string searches today for one of my big hand written blogs and I found some sites with my header text in the google results. These were not sites that I'm linking to. When I try to click on the links or the google cache link I just get sent to a tgp. Has anyone else seen this? What are some of the ways that people steal your SE traffic? Is it possible or am I just being paranoid? I did have someone copy one of my sites about a month ago so I might have someone tagging along with me because I do pull a lot of SE hits on some of my blogs.

From what you say, I think they use your text for SE spiders and when regular surfers click their page, they get redirected. I haven't studied much this spam technique because it was already old when I started learning SEO, but I think it was called "cloacking".

well my SE went up today but I think I'm losing some of it. It's funny that I have another site that has 5 times as many posts as this one but is not getting half the traffic. I wonder if someone is bleeding off my SE traffic or if it's because I'm not linked up well enough.

i think there's a java script for this. when google spiders comes to their site, the java script redirects it to your site. google will then think that it sees your site content for the site in question

It's cloaking, they spiders alot of sites for content and then makes webpages
based on the text on the pages. Then they showes it to the spiders and sends real visitors to there main site. When i want to catch a cloaker i use flashget to download the real site pefore the redirect. And then i opens it in dreamweaver then u will see the real site that the spiders seas. Or you can use a spider simulator to see the real page. |
