hey,

yes and no. I mean when you consider that all of south san francisco had their power cut off, I can understand why a few sites went down. Even netflix was offline for about 20 hours. Backup servers arent usually kept at remote locations, especially if the host that you work with only has one or two server farms in a location. besides, backup generators DID go on, however, 40 racks were left without power. I can assure you the drunk guy thing is a rumor, but I wouldnt be surprised if there was more to this story that meets the eye.
