SF power outage: A lesson in backup power
San Francisco (IDGNS) - The Web hosting company The Planet.com Internet Services tests its backup generators monthly and some employees ask if that's really necessary, said manager Urvish Vashi. The blackout in San Francisco Tuesday explains why.

our host got gensets and UPS, all UPS on our work pc's as well, installed them yrs ago testing every month
you only loose a days worth of coding or so once __________________

At first i didn't even believe some of the sites that went down, big sites that should have had a bit more thought put into colocation or redundant power.
