Well, I think this is not so much about backlinks, more about traffic I guess. At least I would think more about traffic with such a offers than about backlinks.

My exact thoughts, not only that surely the sudden surge of links will smell like 'paid for' by the search engines straight away and this will have a negative effect.

well first off its dirt cheap, 2nd they are thumblogger so they are all on seperate sub domians which google considers as seperate sites, also thumblogger gets spidered nicely, i assume she is pinging all the blogs which means spiders will hit my site alot more then before, also it will bring some free traffic as well, which is always good.

I may be interested in investing in a few link spots Natasha, but first I need to know, since you said your blogs "will be updated in the future", in the meantime, are they at least getting some traffic from any other sites with regular domains? Also, will you accept epass instead of NP points?

Yes, they are getting some traffic from other sites with regular domains and other part of traffic from SE.
