Video gallery makers?

I am growing grey hairs trying to find good software that easily makes thumbnail galleries from videos. It should preferably take one large video file, split it, create thumbnail galleries and have the thumb link to the video clips. All programs I tried so far link the tumb to a screenshot/still (silly!).

Several years and versions ago AcDSee did this, but the later versions has removed thw function.

what type of output are you looking for HTML wise, would you care if you had a seperate program to generate link because I could *possibly* program it for you

Smaller Animals Thumbnailer will do it... with an addon plug-in
Processes mpegs
You can save profiles, too, so if you do several designs it's still very easy and fast.

I don't know of software that splits the bigger mpeg.
You just start with a folder of small clips and let it generate how ever many galleries you want it to

I made over 3000 galleries all at once before with SA Thumbnailer..
What I did was, I downloaded something like 10,000 small clips, put them all in one folder and left it open generating galleries all night long.
(If you download them, and they're all named with the same scheme like 001.mpg 002.mpg and 003.mpg, use a program called basic file renamer, and tell it to "scan subfolders" with the filter set for *.mpg and rename them all that way.. )


That way it is easy.
1. Mass download content
2. Mass extract content if zipped
3. Mass rename all files
4. Use windows "find file" and *.mpg to move them all into one folder
(Or you can move some of them into seperate folders, if you want to do several designs)
5. Run SA Thumbnailer and generate all the galleries you need

Ah, good... it's about the only good reliable way to do it!
I looked all over hell for something that would do what I wanted,
It seems like the best thing.
Another thing too... if you have a dual core cpu or more than one physical CPU, this, like alot of programs out there can only use one cpu (or one side of a dual core cpu)- same thing on older HT cpus.

A way around this is to run multiple instances of the app... say you want to make 100 three vid galleries of 300 clips - put 150 clips in one folder and the other 150 in another folder, and run thumbnailer twice. Have one instance process one folder and one instance process the other.

A great way to process files while working is to set the affinity to CPU1 (the second cpu) only- that way your machine still runs everything else flawlessly while the other core is working hard. Still uses the system bus but doesn't slow you down nearly as much that way.

Hmmm I am playing around with Smaller animals and I have downloaded and installed the plugin "TNDshow" to make it able to process video, but when I try to process video, nothing happens! It only works for pictures. Any idea?

Ah, I remember the same thing happened to me- let me look, real quick, there is some stupid little setting buried somewhere.

Open SA Thumbnailer
ADVANCED BUTTON / +PLUG-INS / MULTI-FRAMED IMPORT PLUG-IN / Make sure the box beside "TNDShow" is checked with the little green checkmark / hit OK

You'll also have to play with some settings to get exactly what you want.. but you can use your html templates, tell it how many vids per gallery, thumb size and quality, etc etc
It is one feature rich motherfucker of a program
