New ipods announced

Basically, they changed the iPod nano to have video and games on it. The original iPod is now called the iPod Classic and has a 160 gb version, and they added a new class of iPod called the iPod Touch whose base model is essentially an iPhone for $100 less that doesn't make calls.

And there will be a new WiFi version of the iTunes store which will run on the iPod Touch and iPhone, so you can buy a song anywhere you've got WiFi. They also dropped the price of the higher-capacity iPhone to $399.

Think I might buy the new iPod Classic- I believe it's shipping today and will be available in stores for the weekend.

Anyone else?

I've got one of the regular iPods now - the one with video support. Since I'm only using around 10-15% of its 30 GB HD (mostly TV series for when I've been out of town and in need of something to watch on the train or plane) it doesn't sound like it's worth upgrading, even if the new "classic" is going to be a bit slimmer.

Otherwise a pretty interesting lineup, particularly the iPod Nano replacements.

Edit: And the iPod Touch looks pretty neat too. I initially thought it was a special version of the iPhone, in which case it would probably only, for a while yet, be of interest - and use - if you live in the US.

iPod Touch will be shipping later this month AFAIK...the rest are shipping today and will be in stores this weekend.

Last TWO ipods we bought broke in different ways. I'm about sick of them. THey're not made to last.

I'm totally pissed with my ipod right now. I bought a 30gig video around 8 months ago and it's been freezing up. So tonight I go work out and it freezes up again. Charging it and pluging it in to my computer isn't helping.

Not happy.

You should go to the Apple Store and bitch about it to them- they can reset it.

Yeah I was thinking of going back to best buy and bitching. Problem with that is they'll be like okay we'll ship to apple and it will be back in 4 weeks.

Just guessing- I have no idea what's wrong with it, if it's a hardware issue or only needs to be reset. Best Buy will probably just send it back to Apple, but at least at the Apple Store a tech can look at it.

I am still on my first Ipod Mini that I bought about three years ago. It still works really well and does what it is suppose to do so I don't see the need to replace it.
