Do you still design for 800x600 resolution?

I was looking at my stats and i notice that just 6% of my traffic is on the 800x600 resolution, so my question is should we keep on designing pages and blogs on that resolution?

Personally i am getting of the 800x600 now there is little people using that i dont see the need to squeeze everything into 800x600.

I made my last site to fit within 800px, but I'd definitely think that those on that resolution are very few and getting fewer all the time. They'd also be quite used to scrolling sideways by now

I test my sites in 800x600 to see that they are still useable but they are 'best viewed' in 1024x768

do they even make puters that run on 800 by 600 still? and if they do are the people using these old machines so tight they wouldnt upgrade puter and therefore unlikely to join a website?

My stats on an experimental blog I launched a couple of month ago shows 8.5% with 800x600 (measured on about 15k pure google traffic)...
I started to build 960 wide a couple of months ago as 1024x768 (50%) and 1280x1024 (28.5%) seem to be the most popular nowadays...

1024x768 only. My overall stats show pretty low % are my visitors with 800x600..

one day I may go up, but not untill I get laser stuff done to the eye's.
I find it easier to see at this rez

Opera has an excellent zoom feature (steps of 10%) that scales everything on the page - text, images, flash, tables etc.

I'm not sure if there's an equivalent in FF or IE7, but from what I've seen the built in zoom features in those two only scale text, which means page layouts tend to be screwed up if you need to go up more than a couple of steps.

I always have Opera maximized on my 22" widescreen monitor, but my eyes very much prefer a zoom rate of 110-130% if I'm going to read more than a few lines of text

And with regards to the original question

- if it means a more efficient page layout (eg. multiple sidebars if that feels suitable for a given site) then I design for 1024x768.
Most of my blogs use only a single sidebar though, so I've just kept those in 800x600 (ie. around 750 wide).
