Just had one full week - except for a few minutes a couple of mornings - where I couldn't reach Netpond or apparantly any other Cyberwurx IPs at all.
Definately one of the oddest Internet problems I've had yet (or at least it seems that way to a layman like me). I haven't been able to find a single other site or IP range that showed any problems - just Cyberwurx servers, and considering neither domain names could be resolved nor raw IPs pinged, it didn't look like a regular routing problem. Anyway, my ISP fortunately managed to fix it. It's strange how much you miss Netpond when it's sitting right there in your browser with an error page alongside 50 other sites that load as they should . |

Did you try sticking the IP in your hosts file? That's usually the first port of call to check if it's just a DNS problem. Our ISP is always losing DNS info and cutting us off from sites, simply finding the site's IP and putting it in the hosts file bypassess the ISP dns cache.

That was a rather shortlived moment of joy
- the Cyberwurx IP range has been unreachable for me again for the last eight hours.I managed to find a public proxy server that works, but I think it's running off a 2400 baud modem .Well, in worst case scenario I guess I'll be back in five or six weeks when I've moved into my new apartment and onto another ISP. If anyone needs to contact me, you can use one of the email addresses on the webmaster page at my review site. If this proxy server can hold up for another few minutes I'll send you a traceroute I managed to run earlier today, mojoman - and I'll try your suggestion Rebel, though this doesn't really look like a normal DNS problem to my (untrained) eyes. I have gotten a response back from my ISP - a small local one delivering internet to various apartment areas and dorms in this city - and it sounds like they think the problem is what their own major provider (I think I've seen the word "backbone" thrown around once upon a time?), Telia. Apparantly they are working on it, though I'm not really holding my breath . |

.Looks like the public proxy I found here can give me a quick fix though... alright, scratch the quick part - loading a page takes a minute or two. And the ten other proxies I tried didn't work at all.I tried Rebel's suggestion, but the only change was that a simple ping now times out with 100% packet loss rather than giving me an "unknown host". Ping Plotter still stalls at "looking up..." whether I use the netpond.com url or the raw IP. |
