think about it this way: a sponsor link with console on your site means there is a smaller chance they will click the next link to a sponsor.

if you have a page with 2 links - each to a sponsor with a console:
after click the first link and the popups come up there is a less chance he will click the second link on you page because he got pissed off by the popup which usually has content he is NOT looking for.
or worse he will actually click one of the links in the popup that will bring him to irrelevant content - now he is 2 steps further from clicking the second sponsor link on your site.
some of you most converting surfers don't know much about webpages and how they function and may get confused: you'll be amazed how many of these there are coming from search engines.

Always consoles unless absolutely necessary for no consoles even if they don't credit on console sales but just pay the $5 or so extra.

Run a million tests on this and I always make more money using the console links.
