Quality of clicks from search engines

I was just doing a bit of research into interacial lesbians as a result of Jel's thread, and I noticed that he is number 1 for the phrase "interracial lesbians". I guess this is hardly surprising, but I also noticed that he has a paid link just above it. As a domainer using aggregators, I'm interested in the effectiveness of the clicks I provide for the search engine companies. Is the traffic from the paid links of better quality than those from the SERP?

I can't say about quality if you have first spot and paid ad above it. But i got small ROI on some "clean adult" webcam keywords from adwords.

I suspect that there may be a side benefit. Are you more likely to get a #1 spot if you are paying for clicks on the key phrase as well?

generally it's of similar quality, but eg the traffic on the first paid spots in the sidebar is of slightly better quality than the top 1-3 spots above the serp's, since some surfers just click the first result hardly reading it, resulting in some less targeted clicks.

but this has nothing to do with type-in traffic coming from domains like yours clicking on google ads displayed by the domain parking programs. this traffic is generally of lower quality than the serp's traffic and it can be turned on/off in adwords for each campaign. lots of advertisers turn it off.

I appreciate that it's a difference source, but I use the paid adverts that google shows to help evaluate the commercial viability of a domain name.

using scripts what show ads depends of keywords in referrer and surfer country will help (tip).

most se using get method so query string can be parsed and analized.

also i think what paid links more profitable just because it pretargeted traffic. not usual search results hits for some keywords at your page.

Well.. when I`m looking for a product I often take a look at the advertisers that show up for the search I did. Those are often much more targeted and of better quality then the organic results.

That's an interesting point, and it could explain why Google allows obviously rubbish spam to stay in the SERPs.

it's not so easy to get rid of all spammers i find that google has actually improved the relevancy of many porn serp's a lot in the last few months. and they do force adwords advertisers too to be as laser relevant as possible with their quality score.

When the SERPs were filled with spam it was great to have the paid ads, now that the SERPs are a bit more cleaned up I definately see a reduction in click throughs and productivity on the paid ads. Damn google ranking relevent sites lol.
