What $$$ amount do you need on PPS to promote a site?

If you like pay per signup sites, what dollar amount do you feel a site needs to have for you to promote it?

What dollar amount do you feel a site needs to have for you to promote it a lot?

There's plenty of chance I will drop all future promotions using PPS in 2008.

No matter how much is a PPS sign up, conversions are truly sucky!

I've learned something in 2007.

I have been promoting a fabulous program (NicheCastle), and since the owners are top notch people, and I see very good conversion and retention with their sites, I will be concentrating myself at sending them more traffic every single day in 2008.

I have tested PPS programs in 2007, and I can just say that I was very dissapointed with the results......so, even if someone would offer $1000 sign ups, I will stick to revshare from a great program!

Evaluate how many signups you expect each month and you'll know how much you'll owe your affiliates. Then evaluate how many will retain from month to month... and you compute the difference...

eg:
Month 1: 100 SU; owed to affiliates: $3500, income: 100*$21 = $2100. ($21 net income for a $25 site minus 16% of biller fees). So you need to have $1400 for the first month.
Month 2: 150 SU + 50 rebills: owed to affiliates: $5250. Income: 200*$21 = 4200. Need $1050 for month 2.
Month 3: 200 SU + 100 rebills: owed to affiliates: $7000. Income: 300*$21 = $6300. Need $700.
etc... (third month: you made 600 total sales, and not only the program hasn't made money yet, but it lost over $3500).

Obviously, you need to make LOTS of rebills (+upsales,...) to compensate for a PPS program... If you make say $25 per SU (say $21 after biller fees + $4 of upsales) and pay affiliates $35, each member needs to stay in average 1.4 month for you to break even.... and 2.8 month for you to get the same share than if you were doing revshare.

So to sum up, sites that pay PPS either:
- have crazy good rebills+upsales, or
- are loosing money, or
- shave.

I don't promote sites that offer more than $35 per signup. The only exception is where they have particuklarly good content, and I can write off traffic sent to them as part of the boosting of my site.

I'd also like to see honest leak free tours for revshare affiliates, and all the desperate attempts to grab income before sales confined to the pps tours.

Amelia - did you see my thread about the possible decrease in the role of affiliates? I'd be really interested in the replies of some established sponsors.

i can't confirm that at all, some PPS programs are converting awesome for me. but i prefer great revshare programs like nichecastle (or also cwdcash in your niche), too. i try to achieve a healthy balance between pps and revshare sales.

Amelia - if you are thinking of adding pps to your programme, please could you have a serious think about it. The pps model has become a road to affiliate exploitation, and it could affect the attitudes of your revshare affiliates. If you do introduce it, then please use completely different tours for the two methods. Imposing the losses of the pps system onto your revshare affiliates is not a good method of retaining their loyalty.

in other words, whats the matter if they pay $50 per sign-up, when they convert 1:2000

and i can make the same with sponsor paying $25 but converting 1:1000
