How Hard Would It Be To Make A Free Hosted Blog System Like TB?

How hard would it be to set it up or more importantly how much would it cost? I see a lot of free hosted blogs out there but I don't think any of them are nearly as good when it comes to design.

There's quite a few guys and gals setting up free blog hosts - for little outlay it would seem...

There's a few free plugins that can be used...

However I doubt our very own Twan used a freebie - saying that he probably built it himself

Its probably custom coded so unless you have extensive coding knowledge and lots of time on your hands, I wouldn't suggest it.

you could use MU to make something like Sensualwriter but to be honest a lot of small free blog hosts dont seem to last long so i suspect its harder than it looks to make money from also as soon as the Usercash schoolboys and the Penis Pill spammers find your hosting then you'll really have your work cut out for you.

It would probably not cost that much to expand on existing software but such a service demands heaps of support.

wordpress mu works fine for wordpress.com.

Someone should start a free blog host that is more like a cooperative and invite only. I admit thumbloger is already very much like that.

Yea it's the support that makes services like Thumblogger stand out. Just look how many tools Twan is offering at no charge.
Also SEO bonus, although I found it to be rather small.
