It's Christmas Time - Time For You To Think About Others

So what have you done to help someone. Have you given to any charities?

If not maybe you should sign up for world community grid and use your computer to help find cures and treatments for diseases like A.I.Ds and Cancer. I only have a few people that have signed up and joined my team. It really upsets me that someone hasn't overtaken my score yet. I know a lot of you have access to computers at your work or school so start setting them up to run the program. It only takes about 30 seconds for each computer.

Maybe Santa will bring you something extra nice this year for doing it.

Here is a copy of my team stats so far.

I don't even have 300 units done yet and I know there are some peeps on the pond that can beat me before Christmas.

That's very kind of you. Have you thought about using your computers spare processing speed to help find cures for diseases? You can sign up and start helping by going to the last link in my sig or clicking here

I'm against giving money to such organizations. Who knows if the money reaches the children at all? So what I do is the best way out IMO.

By giving them money you're encouraging them to beg more. Give them some food instead.

Not very much. The program is designed so that it only uses resources that your aren't using.

If your leery about letting it do that you can set it so that it only uses what percentage you want. you can also set it up so that it starts running every time you turn on your computer or you can start it manually. It really doesn't use much processing power at all and the only bandwidth it uses is when it receives new work units or send completed ones back which only takes about 10 seconds.

I agree with you there Scream. there are a lot of cities in America with homeless people on the streets and even though there are placed that feed them and give them a place to stay a lot of them still chose the streets. When people give them money they are just feeding them alcohol.

I sponsor a kid each year through Operation Santa Claus.

I love doing it but sometimes the little narratives they give you on the kid are sad. I asked for an older kid this year and I got a 16 year old who's father is unknown and mother has been in prison the past 4 years. He is in foster care. He wanted inks and sketch pads, so I got him a tons of inks, all different size pads, several bottles of India ink, etc. I spent $100 on him and I hope I made his Christmas a tiny bit better than it would have been.

That's very good of you. I think that is one of the best ways to help someone. That way you can see were your money is going.
