Anyone seeing any profit in this?

so, from long time i have one of my contact forms on one of my websites open, without any protection and ofcourse spam arrives couple of times a day.

What i can't understand is, what they do benefit from messages like:

Hello! Good Site! Thanks you! qcieduolmeaj

i receive just that kind of messages, without any links, ads, headers or whatsoever.

Am i missing something here, or there is new way spammers to make money?

prolly a script looking for forms on the internet and then checking to see if the data they send appears on the page (for comment spam).

that particular message is a fairly generic one, so it'd be pointless to scan the page for that string, so they append a random string to the end

For my online contact forms I always use NateMail, could not say if it blocks this sort of spam out but I can safely say I don't get this type of spam on sites which have NateMail script running.

I've heard they do that to verify emails? ... I'm not positive though. Damn spam.

Yeah, I've heard that too... that they are checking to see if yours is a valid email address... and I'm betting they get a bunch of bites with people responding to the emails, thinking it was a real comment on their website.

i see, hm, yes and i was thinking it could be for verification purpose, but didn't think someone nowaydays will get tricked into replying
