Stupid is incurable and contagious

My husband used to call the defense of these criminals; situational ethics.
He can't help this because....*insert your excuse and the situation please* Be sure and foist the guilt for his actions off to others while you are at it so as to make said actions more excusable. Do not promote the idea of personal responsibility. To do so would make the persons responsible have to face the consequences of their actions. My husband considered situational ethics and the our tendency to excuse people from personal responsibility as the harbinger of the downfall of modern society and I am inclined to agree with him. Now why would I quote a man whom you don't know and you really have no reason to care about? He was a child protective worker for 12 years. Children and cases such as these came to him. His major was psychology and he could talk to the sick fucks such as this one who perpetrated these crimes and often get their reasons behind them. One of the things we in the modernized countries have fostered is an "He can't help it because..." attitude. It is not ok to boil a baby in oil UNLESS you can prove you are mentally deficient. If you can, then it is ok because you can't help it and therefore you will not be punished for it or any other acts you commit in the future. So you are promoting both the lack of personal responsibility AND situational ethics. By doing so we give tacit permission for crimes such as these and even offer up a pre-excuse for them. Think about it. __________________
