A discussion on fine malt whisky

I tried to hijack ABE's thread, but I'm really quite interested in some other opinions, so i started this one. I've been a long time fan of The MacAllan, but recently I've been getting the impression that it's dropped in quality. I wondered if this is as a result of my palate failing, or if others felt the same way. I've even started to think that Glemmorangie is better.

Glenlivet seems like fire water to me.

It's a long time since I tried that, maybe that should be my next taster. I could get one of those assorted boxes from the smaller distilleries as well.
I think I've sent too long just buying the MacAllan.

The Islays, and especially Laphroaig, are my favorites. But a Glenmorangie or Glenlevit are great too. I`m a big scotland fan, I`ll be going there next spring and I sure will try out a few others so I`m open for recommendations

Bushmills for me, or if I'm feeling flush Black Bush. A friend got me a bottle of the 21 year old stuff for Xmas, very very nice indeed!

single malt is the only way to go, blends are ok black label if you have to have a blend but for single malts macallan 18 is well worth the step price...imo
