Recent Windows update
It included an update to IE, right?
Today, NO ONE can log into one of my sites if they are using any version of IE. Only people using Firefox can log in. I'm getting tons of emails from people who keep asking the system for a new password and it simply won't work. The site in question is a My Space clone that uses cookies. There is a bug in the system and you can't login from an old version of IE, and often you have to clear cookies to log in if using IE. Has anyone else encountered any issues or read about this? I did the update but I don't use IE and I can log in fine with Firefox, as can everyone else using it. |

i've been working on a system that uses cookies, and i noticed that ie6 handles cookies differently to ie7 and both are different to ff, this was previous to this update. sounds like dodgy programming to me though regarding the handling of login sessions
![]() it could be a header redirecting problem, it could be passing data into the session problem, it could be a problem with headers.. as there could be so many different things, put up a giant 'use firefox' banner, or shout at the producers of the s'ware you use (though it may actually be better to use an opensource solution like joomla for your needs - it gets updated regularly, you can easily add new features -modules - for free, and did i mention it's free and gets updated regularly). |

Standard is available but MS ignores it.

The last update was 2 days ago when this began.
They software manufacturer knows about the old bug with IE but does nothing about it. I need to go to England and slap them around ![]() Error logs are clean, but this only began when the new update came out as far as I can see. My host turned off mod_security to test something to see if it would help, but it didn't. Of course, some get a timeout error and blame ME and my site. I try to explain that the error is on their end with their ISP or a router along the way, but my site is fine and the server is fine ... but people who aren't computer literate just blame me. |

I had one person who didn't upgrade log in fine with IE. I had another who didn't upgrade and he can't login. I have literally dozens and dozens of people failing to login. I tell them to use Firefox and anyone who has switched hasn't had problems that I'm aware of.
I asked one to lower the security on cookies but he still can't login. |
