thanks for your comments. My question is in regards to current circumustances and I believe It is not going to change overnight. The basics of SEO will remain same, no matter today or tomorrow.

apcwebmaster is right hawkadu, it's hard to project revenues as it depends on MANY factors. but your expectation is reasonable, a very successful blog can make much more than that after a year. don't do anything religiously, don't believe me or others too much, experiment for yourself and find out what works best for you

Thats a great plugin you mentioned there hardcoreblogger, I'm gonna try it out shortly. Here are a few more tips for everyone before I go to sleep:

1) Link some thumbnails to full-size pictures, some to tours, some to FHGs and make sure to link 10-20% to the join page. By not linking all the pictures to the same place (i.e. the tour) you'll keep the surfer interested and clicking those pics. Increased clickthrough to your sponsor will lead to increased sales

2) Use Crazyegg to find out just what your surfers are clicking on and use that to tailor your marketing tactic to your visitors

3) Try to sell the hesitant guys. Link a few extremely effective thumbs in the sidebar to full-size pics on a separate page, loaded with adverts and sales text.

If anyone has any other tips, please share them - that way we all learn something and make more $$$!

Use the stickypost option ro advertise your sponsor and if you are using feederblogs yuse stickepost to fundel traffic to your target blogs

That's a great tip!
One of my sites I tracked 5,000 page loads with crazy egg and realised that more people were clicking on the third most prominent link than the first and second.

I moved the third most prominent link to the top and got more clicks and more sales.

i find this one quite interesting, i haven't tried this in this way yet. i agree you might get more clicks from some surfers, but you also run the risk of pissing other surfers off with this inconsistency? i will test this for sure

crazyegg is a great tool for understanding where your visitors click, and it often shows surprising results. i also like to use google analytics to better understand what my visitors are doing.

Hcb, I guess I should have clarified myself. The approach I mentioned probably will have somewhat of an adverse effect on your bookmarkers but will work better if you have a large % of non-returning visitors. If you link every picture to a join page or tour, they'll go looking elsewhere. If you link to FHG, you'll be giving quite a bit away. By mixing it up, you keep them wanting to click that pic b/c they hope to get some free stuff yet you aren't giving too much away.

Then again, what works for me may not work for some other ppl.

With designing a blog do you keep in mind that the first post on your blog ends without having to scroll down? So that the "Visit PaysiteX for bla bla bla" link is on the first screen they see? Or doesnt it really mathers?

How much do you take pagesize in consideration? You dont want your index page to be above an certain kilobyte size? or?

i don't really care if a post gets long so they have to scroll down but i make sure that i have several money-making links/banners/thumbs above the fold, ie in the top half of the (unscrolled) page.

i don't use a kb limit but when pagesize gets too high i reduce the number of posts on index page.

i do use pics and clips from FHG's but i rarely link to them, i link directly to the tour (or to an inner page with eg large pic that then leads to the tour). but following comrade's suggestion i'll mix it up a little more again
