I love media player classic.. I use it to open videos from my hard drive.
I set it up to open several instances of the player so I can keep several videos minimized and still be able to look at media files when I want to..

Is it possible to install it twice?
I only have stupid WMP11 because I need one that doesn't open a new instance of itself when I'm previewing videos from the web.. when I do that I just want it to replace what ever it is playing with the one I load up

It let me "roll back" to WMP 9 when I tried to uninstall 11 and I guess I am not allowed to uninstall 9 because of bill gates.. so.... how do I con windows explorer into opening media files with mp classic?

Can I go and replace the wmp 9 executable or some of a thing?

Gom player, or media player classic. Gomplayer has its own codec library and plugins.

you need to replace the file association of the filetypes individually

1) Hold shift and right click on a media file
2) Open With > Choose Program...
3) Tick the box "Always use this program to open this type of file"
4) Browse to the Media Player Classic exe (mine is C:\Program Files\MPC\mplayerc.exe)
5) Ok and you are done

All files of that type will now open in MPC instead of WMP, you will have to repeat that for each file extension (.wmv .avi .etc)

I have winamp & realplayer but you cant beat WMV & every one uses it so I edit & place everything on my sites as WMV.

I've always had the file association set that way and I even set them in the player itself... but IE still opens the WMP9.... and I get the feeling that gates doesn't want me to change that.....
