Warning to anyone buying WP templates from Xyjak

something was brought to attention on another forum today. thought i might as well drop the warning here too. it appears as though the blog templates this guy is selling are nothing more than slightly editted templates available off template monster.

these were two of the specific template monster examples that were brought up there.

it's pretty hard to pass this off as a coincidence, and he has been quoted as saying "i don't think anyone is going to care". now that there's good number of people who know about it, i'm sure more examples with turn up. just a heads up to anyone who isn't interested in infriging upon any legal boundaries. he was also quoted as sayng he wouldn't put up live demos of the themes becausse "that's the best way to steal the design". oh the irony...

Interesting that you care more about the side scroll stretching on one thread, than getting word out about a guy who's putting a stain on the industry by selling ripped off product. Don't you think your priorities are a little out of whack here?

From what I gather, there have been statements issued to Template Monster already, but I dunno if it's gonna do much, form what I've read he's in Russia (surprise!)

Ok chief, lets do it.. Do you have absoluet proof of when the template was made by both parties? I don't see it. I see a few images. No times No dates. Your posting stuff from another board bad business. You posting those large images was disrespectful to the board. Now you still want to go off, keep going. I will slap your acount so hard it will take the sound out your name.. If you was so concerned you would of taken the time to resize the images so they looked right. But no your to much in a hurry.. The comparison doesn't speak for itself? They are copies beyond a shadow of a doubt, the first couple people who confronted him about he tried burying it by saying he'd hide the templates in question. Most of the templates on there are modified and resold hundreds of times by mainstream design services. I really doubt monster really cares and most of what they sell is sold at other sites too. Even some of the exclusive buys are sold exclusive on other template sites. So believe it or not most of the designers who make these templates are screwing customers just the same.

It's one thing to buy the resell rights to a template, that happens all the time in mainstream. I've got resell rights to 2400 mainstream wp themes right now. He has responded to the accusations on gfy, and his responses have FAR from cleared his reputation. So far he has said, and I quote "I don't think anyone will take it serious" and then he ran and hid out until he came up with this. they have ACKNOWLEDGED that they are copies, with a "press release" type statement from a previously unknown Jim Campbell, on gfy stating that they (apparently it's a group now, even though i've only seen one person ever pos tup to this point) acknowledge these two as being copies and have removed them from their online store. I suspect if anyone cared to go looking they'd find more.

And it was Pam before that. I'm not the quiet, obedient, sit back type of person who's afraid to tell someone they're being a douchebag over some insignificant crap when they're being a douchebag. I don't hold grudges against anyone, but in the moment I will fully tell someone what I think of them at that point in time.

if you check out the rest of the thread, they've posted their retraction there too now. which i'm not sure many people are going to buy into at the moment, and if you choose to, know that you're running a risk in doing so. i purchased themes from them before i foudn this out myself, but i won't be purchasing anymore, and others have stated the same. i really don't buy into the whole "press release" thing he's trying to pass off to save his ass in the face of accusation here.

the guy even went out of his way to try and change the theme to cover up himself after the accusation, and he's been scrambling to cover his ass ever since he got caught redhanded. It's got shady written all over it. Like I said, formulate your own opinion based on what you see, you have the right to interpret it in whatever way you want. I for one won't do business with him again, what you do with your money is your choice. It's just my opinion, but I think anyone who does business with him this point on is doing nothing more than supporting an outed scammer...
