Best way to find out where signups are coming from?

What's the best software (or is there a software) to track visitors to a website and determine where the real "buyers" are coming from? Some sponsors like ccbill tell me the originating url, but they don't tell me where that person came from and how they landed on my website...

Some sponsor programs offer url tracking and some don't. For the ones that don't I don't think there is a way.

if your sponsor doesn't provide the referring url you really cant determine the origin of the sale

some sponsors provide it although not all the time, sometimes im confuse where those sales came from, some has a referring url some doesn't have.
