I can now confirm that Hughes Billing has been shut down by Visa and Mastercard. They seized all funds the company had.

This comes directly from Hughes Billing.

I'll be talking to my attorney today to attempt to recover funds owed to me. After all, they are still up and processing according to their various websites.

Good Luck Pam, and thanks for posting the name so other webmasters know who the billing company is, and more importantly for some, who it isn't.

Also, not trying to suck up, but kudos, for not posting names until you had the facts. For any newbies, this is exactly how to post any damaging info.

Yep, people gave me shit over it but until I had confirmation from them, it would be dumb to post the name. I was pissed when I made my post and came here to post instead of my webmaster blog.

There is still more to this story and I'm getting more and more each day. I will be getting paid for my own paysite sales, at least for the past few weeks, not sure of the holdback, because I do not have the types of sites that Mastercard won't allow. I'm learning a lot about that, too.

They were not shut down. Well, they were but they weren't. ONE of their processing banks that processed 60% of their sites was removed and my sites were processed in that field. But, since mine were not against card association rules, none of my paysite funds were seized.

But, I lost them as my backup processor so will talk to Epoch next week about picking them up as a backup.

On a related note, and as you are a US webmaster, I take it whenever you use a new backup you have to pay thd $750 VISA charge all over again, right?

Yes, you do.

Visa does well. Also, many are not aware that Mastercard charges $1,500 per year for this fee, but I only know of 2 people who had a processor that tried to charge them that, other than me (with my merchant account), and those 2 pay it each year.
