google tools suck for me..

the google webmaster tools are driving me crazy each monday..

do you guys get your added sites to "unverified" status too?

I am making a site, adding the google meta tag and it gets verified. After a week or so it gets unverified because of "server timeout" as google says.

Well, i had sites on 3 different hosts and it kept happening. Now i am on fast dedicated and same. I am doing same in yahoo siteexplorer and never had such problem. So for sure it is not my hosts or server being slow.

Another thing.. this monday when i logged in the google wm tools, most of my sites had "unverified" status again. I clicked to add new and something refreshed the page and most my sites got verified again but some left unverified at random.

I think google is making it with reason and wants to see am i serious webmaster by reverifying my sites all the time or i am just spammer or something..

How's that for you guys?

happens here too... btw, I crashed my gmail acct for 3 hours today after I deleted 171K spam mails....

Have you tried verifying by naming a html file in the root directory on the domain instead?

I do that with all my sites and I've never experienced this problem

google doesn't let me do that, coz i have ErrorDocument directive for the whole domain..

Yea, it happens sometimes.. I usually ignore it.. And things get back to normal.
This can be frustrating..

By the way, you can check your noindex tags ( seo plugins ) .. this normally causes problems with the sitemap & verification.

If you add, a noindex part of your website, to the sitemap .. It will get rejected. ( Avoid doing that )

Why would an ErrorDocument directive be triggered if the google document exists?

I've never had the problems you've cited kaktusan. But I verify using their HTML doc.

because they check for random file first and when it doesn't return them 404, google tells me "you have global errordocument directive and you can't use the file authentication method, please use meta authentication..."

I only use them to see how many of my pages are indexed and external links.... For the rest not really.. Maybe I'll start using the sitemap function shortly, it seems to work I've heard..
