Unhelpful sponsors.

That's probably what's going on. Many, if not most, sponsors these days only show 2 page uniques.
E-mail the sponsor and ask for a clarification if it's not mentioned in their tos or faq how they count and display stats for their affilaites.

Talking about unhelpful sponsors, I was reminded of this Poll thread I started a while back:

Well I started promoting the site because as I said I knew I have the traffic that will get joins for LezLove. And sure enough I'm getting conversions for them. However their affiliate support so far is zero. They haven't answered any of my emails. Not one.

But as I say they convert for me & and I haven't seen any chargebacks with them. I guess they may have a "if it ain't broke don't fix it attitude".

i don't agree. i work with a number of sponsors that give me great attention and do a lot of special things for me, even if i didn't send a lot of traffic yet. lately it seems to me that some sponsors are competing more and more for affiliates with extra goodies.

my thoughts too. i don't expect anything from a sponsor other than getting paid on time. special attention and services are nice, but i'd never drop a sponsor for not giving that as long as his site(s) convert with my traffic.

I agree with hardcoreblogger.

I started in this biz 10 months ago with ZERO traffic and ZERO sites (lol don't we all) and from DAY ONE several sponsors were with me all the way, knocked up some banners, sorted out some hosting, gave me tips etc etc when I was a NOBODY (lol I still am really, but I'm less of a nobody now than I was back then).


(ps, of course I moved to my own hosting etc etc blah blah as soon as I could, but the point remains, I was supported whilst I was learning. And that is why I stick loyally to these sponsors and they have seen returns on their invested time with $1k+ sales so I guess it was worth it for them).

The problem is 9/10 affiliates who ask for stuff and especially the ones who get you to do things like design never send a single sale, and thats if they are one of the 2/10 who even send traffic.

Limited design resources and personel in a small-med sized program can make it impossible to respond to all the demands from webmasters. Don't get me wrong we are happy to help, but its good business to spend the time (and often money) where there is a chance to make sales.

Gotta agree with 12 clicks to a large degree ... back when I started there were no tools past a few banners and a working stats system (if you were lucky). If you have a good idea exactly what you want for banners or tools then if you have the ability its best you do it right ... because you know your traffic better than your sponsor.

I really should have explained myself better lol.

The particular sponsor only had hardcore banners and images, which don't tend to convert on this particular site.

I asked the sponsor if they could create me a softcore banner in a particular size or send me some softcore images.

The sponsor would not do that, they only said it would be added to their list to do.

As I could not convert the sponsor without softcore images or banners. I dropped the sponsor. It was pointless to keep a sponsor I could not convert and knew I would not be able to convert.

Yes I could have created the banners myself, but like I have said without the images to do so I could not, as I know what converts on this particular site.

I don't know what kind of site you run. But if it's a good sponsor you think fits your traffic, then why not add a text link for now? And surely they must have atleast ONE pic that is not hardcore that you can use to make a banner if that's crucial...??
Sorry, I just don't understand why a banner is deal breaker...
