404 page - how should it look like?

Hi there!

I'm going to drop fpc traffic from my 404 because its making me almost no money, so what should i put on my 404? Use a sponsor hosted or put up some banners with links? Any ideas?

What I say, and it is just one opin, but mine LOL.. is to put up a special page.. head it with .. Sorry, what you are looking for cant be found right now. Check out these great sites while you are here or click here to go back to the main page. If you dont have a special page, check out this thread. Sleazybear Gift thread

I don't know what other do or what wokrs for them.
but I just make a copy of my main page and use it as a 404.
that way they almost always get what they came for.
I figure if my main page makes sales, then it should make sales when used as 404 page too.

I use a hand rendered review site directory from Welcome To ReviewCash.com { The Adult Industries Preferred 404 and Exit Traffic Solution }..

Like:

SexMegaDirectory.com - Where ALL the Free Trial and Guest Pass Porn Sites are Reviewed.

Works a treat.

I have custom written 404 pages as well as an entire website with links to my other sites so they have a choice

Hm then why you don't redirect them to the home page?

for no reason I just like it this way.

I customize my 404 page so that it kindly invites them to use the link on the page to go to my links page from where they can navigate to my site visitors area or click on one of my topsite banners OR my affiliate partner links. 'Waste not, want not' .

I was thinking on SB 404 template

I link to other blogs/sites on the 404 page. I make it clean because I think this way I won't lose the surfer.
