doctors, lawyers, teachers, specialists etc are called professionals for a reason. webmasters generally aren't.

Ouch. I sure expect good ethics and I think I have them too.

In my eight years as a webmaster, I've only been ripped off once, out of dozens of transactions. I can't even say I chuck that down to lesson learned, because I am still a very trusting person in online business. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe it's the fact that I got by word of mouth and check references that saved me so far.

I don't know about held liable, I do know about sued, from personal experience, alas. Trust me, spending hours in court and a fortune on lawyers is not fun. The woman who sued me didn't have a leg to stand on, but she could still sue and drag us through the courts for four years before she finally offered a settlement which we happily accepted. We knew we would win the case, but she asked for $1k (because she knew she was going to lose) and it was worth saving our time in going on dealing with her. My point is, you can be sued as a forum owner, and even as a moderator or a member (she sued all of the above, and the host as well!).

Glad you like Steve (Senore) and I'm sorry you had to go through this. The one thing that I don't get is how he could have used the excuse of wanting to go to NASCAR???? How is that reason enough to get payment in advance??

I've had so many problems in the past now I hire 4 people to do the same job.

I take the work and split it up into 4 and give them each a part.

Typically,
1 will never reply back again.
2 will do the work but do a shitty job and take much longer than expected.
1 will do a good job and get it back to me on time.

the one that works out the best I stick with, the others I let go.

I don't prepay for any work. At most I will give a small deposit using paypal, where I know I am protected up to $1,000 if I get scammed. you are NOT protected at all with epass.

If it is someone off of the boards I tell them if they are worried about getting scammed to do a search about me. I've done business with 100's of people and never screwed anyone, even my haters wont make accusations because they know its not true.

Well, this one hasn't even answered my emails in a week and no refund has come through.

So, I think this week I'll be hitting every forum I can find to warn people about using TaylorMarieXXX as a writer.
